“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, through the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains quake at its swelling pride.” [Psalm 46:1-3]
Every one of us have gone through difficult struggles or situations. I have heard it said that we’re all either going into a storm, currently in a storm, or coming out of a storm. Difficulties are a part of life. In the above verses, we learn that we don't have to fear our problems, but we can trust God throughout them.
Verse one calls God a refuge and strength. It says that He is a present help. He is close to us when we are going through tough times. Be encouraged by this! Whenever I go through trouble, I find it easy to focus more on my problems than on God. I think it can be very easy (as bad as it may sound) to forget about God and try to solve my problems without His support. God is very present. He is close by and wants to give us strength. Because of this, we don't have to fear anything. Times may be difficult, but the God of the universe is on our side. He loves you and me, and He died for us. How much more will He support us in discomfort? Even though things happen that may be out of our control, we can trust God because He is unchanging. Our circumstances change, but He never does. He is good, He loves you, and He is never going to lead you astray. We can trust Him.
What sort of “trials” are you facing right now?
Where is God in these “trials”?
How can you increase your trust in God?
Father, thank You for who You are. Thank You that I can trust You. You are my refuge and strength in times of trouble. Show me where You are in my situation. May I recognize and seek You in both good times and bad. I love You. I trust You. Amen.
