You have everything you need.
So often we think that God is far away. That He can’t possibly be for us let alone with us, but that’s just not true. Paul is saying in these verses that God chose you. He chose you when He sent His son to die on the cross, and He still chooses you in your everyday life. He chose you so much that He gave you everything you’ll ever need- Christ in you. Think about it. What if you lived every day like Christ was actually in you? How differently would you approach situations? You would be confident, powerful, bold, and brave in fighting for what’s yours. Stress, fear, and doubt wouldn’t define your future because you would know without a doubt that you are His and taken care of.
Give yourself permission to walk in freedom.
I didn’t grow up in the church. I thought I knew about God and would sometimes give in to the idea that He was real. However, if you asked me 5 years ago if I knew Him for myself I wouldn’t be able to give you an honest answer. When I became a part of Freshley and began pursuing a relationship with Him, God started changing me from the inside out. I saw Him move in ways that I never thought were possible, I saw His love as extravagant and never-ending, and I realized He wasn’t done working in my life. He is never done. Though my faith sky-rocketed, there were still preconceptions I had about God that affirmed lies I believed about myself. I had the head knowledge that He was for me, but my thoughts and actions still reflected someone living in fear and comparison. Breakthrough for me happened when I allowed Him to speak. All the fears about not measuring up became less dominant as I chose to speak out loud the truths He put on my heart. When I shared my story or wisdom with the people around me, I began to see myself the way God does – worth it.
Give what you receive.
Paul doesn’t just stop at the fact that the Holy Spirit is in you. He goes on by saying that we should share what Christ has done in us with other people. Living your life as a believer has responsibility, but that responsibility includes purpose. You are made with purpose and the love that He has shown you isn’t just meant for yourself. He saw you fit as someone that could impact the people around you, and invite them into the life that you know now with God. Though it can feel intimidating to talk about what God has done in your life with other people, that is the simplest thing you were created to do. Loving God and loving others go hand in hand. Once you’ve experienced His goodness, it should make you want others to experience the same. The Holy Spirit is in you. You will be surprised at just how POWERFUL He is when you step out of your comfort zone and into a life of purpose.
God, thank you for giving me the hope of glory. As you continue to make me mature in Christ, allow me to have the courage and bravery to share your wisdom and love with the people around me. Give me purpose and compassion unlike I’ve ever known before. I trust you for who you are and ask that you continue to increase my faith and desire to see your spirit move.
