And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
- Ephesians 3:18-19
This passage always gets me. The main point here is that the amount of love that God has for us is impossible to understand. God loves you deeper, wider, longer, and higher than you could ever know. Paul is praying that the church in Ephesus would be able to understand even a small part of the love God has for us because he knew that they would be forever changed because of that understanding.
As humans, we like to understand things. We like to put things nicely in their box where they belong. We like to know where things start and stop. It bothers us when we can’t nail something down. It makes us uncomfortable. The good news here is that even though we as humans can’t fully comprehend God’s love for us, we can still experience it. We can live a life of abundance in God’s love.
Paul said that “we will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God”. Experiencing God’s love makes us complete! We are filled with the power that comes from God when we let ourselves be loved. This is true for you, too. Nobody is the exception from experiencing God’s love. I would encourage you to take a few minutes this week and ask God to show you more of His love. He’s ready to.
God, thank you for the way that you love us. Thank you that you love each and every person with a life-changing, never ending love. I ask that you would begin to give us grace to press into more of that love every day. Thank you. We love you. Amen.
