Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
2 Corinthians 1:21-22 NIV

Our assurance

In this passage, there are three things that Paul makes certain to us: we are anointed, we are sealed, and we have the Holy Spirit in our hearts. These three assurances from God establish a firm foundation for our faith, as we have been set apart as His children to seek His will while knowing we have purpose here on Earth. With His Spirit in us, we are able to experience the fullness of Jesus and know that what is coming is good. How cool is that?!

Walking in confidence

There is so much security in this passage for us. Paul assures us that no matter what comes our way, we will be able to stand firm in our faith because we have been adopted and made complete in Jesus. We can walk in the confidence of knowing that we are anointed, meaning we are set apart and equipped for His purpose on our life. There is no longer any room for fear or doubt because we have been given the Holy Spirit who comes and seals all that the Lord has promised in us.

God is fighting for you

Freshman year of college is so unique and full of various exciting memories, but it can also be really hard and scary. There will be moments when you doubt the goodness of Jesus and that's okay! In these moments though, you can remember this passage and be reassured that God is fighting for you. He has anointed you as His son or daughter to live in the fullness of His Spirit and the joy that has been set before you. In the midst of change, there is comfort in knowing that God has never left your side. I encourage you to seek Him today and ask Him to renew His spirit within you!

Pray

Take a moment to be with God. "Lord, I ask you to come and renew the firm foundation I have in you. May I be reminded that you have anointed me and have sealed me as your child. Thank you for being such a good good Father. In Jesus' name, Amen."
