But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood - to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished - he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

- Romans 3:21-26

You Have Already Won Because of Jesus

In Romans 3:21-26 Paul writes and tells us that currently - that means today, tomorrow and even yesterday - we can live in the full righteousness (right standing) that God has for us. That no longer do we only receive his goodness by attempting to follow every single part of the law perfectly. Verse 21 says "now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known." This is for us. Verse 22 goes on to say "this righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe." It does not matter if we came to know the Lord this morning or when we were twelve, no one is disqualified from His righteousness or love. Not Jews, nor gentiles. Not me nor you. Even though we are all incapable of living a perfect life it is because of the blood that was shed on the cross for us that He already won. We are all human. We've all sinned. But on that day, God sacrificed his one and only son Jesus on the altar of the world to clear the us from our sin. No longer is it a long list of records. But through faith Jesus fills us with the fullness of His Spirit.

You Are Already God's Child

If we choose to believe we have to do works to get to a certain place with God, or if we choose to believe we have to be absolutely perfect before we can be with Him, then we are choosing to limit ourselves and limit Him from the fullness that He has for us now. For you, right now. Wherever you are - no matter how you are feeling or what kind of day your having, the truth that will always overcome is that "God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood on the cross. It is to be received by faith." When we know the fullness of what God has for us we can choose to walk in the identity that we are given daily. We can walk in confidence. We can walk covered in peace. We can walk with the truth covering us. We are children of God. We are no longer slaves to fear. We don't have to do anything or get anywhere before we step into his fullness. All we have to do is have faith in who He is.

You Can Trust Him

My challenge is for you to walk into the identity you've been given. Not tomorrow, but today. He chose you. He knows you. He wants you. You don't have to limit Him. He's limitless. Let him blow up the box that you've been putting Him in. Walk in the truth that no works will get you closer to Him. Nothing you do (or don't do) will bring you closer or further away from Him. He will come to you and change your heart when you surrender it to Him and stop trying to figure out what you need to fix and what you need to do. Every day there are new mercies, new beginnings. Walk in the truth that He so loved you that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. He has come so that you can have life and have it abundantly. It's for you.

God, I thank you. Thank you that you are a good good father. That you gave your one and only Son to cover all the sin in the world. Thank you that nobody is disqualified from your love, from your fullness. That no one is the exception. I ask that it would be easy to walk in your truth and your freedom. God, that you would uncover our eyes to see you for who you are. That no longer we would be walking around as slaves to works or deeds---that we would know that we are your children every moment of every day.
