Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.

It is important for us to remember to keep our eyes upward. We don't actually belong here, we belong in Heaven with the Lord. While we are still here we must keep our eyes up and be imitators of Christ, meaning act like him. We want to do what he did, serve as he served, love as he loved.

There are so many people who do not know that their way of life is bound to end in emptiness. When they are constantly seeking to find things that will satisfy the desires of their flesh and not what the Lord would want, they are eventually going to realize it doesn't satisfy. Whether that looks like drinking, gossiping, or cutting others down to find self worth. We cannot live this way and expect to be fulfilled when we were created to be with our father in heaven.

Each of us should be imitators of Christ. If we say that we love and follow him, our lives should reflect that. We should not be ruled by the passions of the flesh, but rather be quick to surrender them in favor of the desired of the Lord's heart and to look to the Lord for our hope.

Lord, help me to continually rest my gaze on you. I don't want to be ruled by the passions of my flesh. I want to imitate you. Help me to remember that I belong with you and to you. I give you all of me!
