Good things come from God. God wants to see us be steadfast in the midst of tough circumstances so that we’ll begin to understand more of His character.Temptation and evil are from the enemy and our flesh, so we should never look to God thinking He would tempt us with evil. He only gives good things because all good things originate from Him. In all circumstances, God desires for us to live in the fullness He has for us and for us to experience His unchanging, unbelievably good love.
When life throws us challenges, it is often easy to question God's goodness and character. This keeps us from going deeper into a relationship with Him, and we may feel as if there is a distance between ourselves and God. Despite our circumstances, we must always remember that God not only is the origin of all good gifts, but that He desperately wants to give them to us. Both when things are good and things are bad, God has fullness for us to experience.
Think of a circumstance in your life currently that isn't ideal. From school, to work, to family - undoubtedly there are circumstances testing your faith in God's goodness. Now let’s pray that God would show you where He is at work in that situation. Ask Him to show you where He's been throughout the situation to this point, and then ask Him to show you what He's asking you to do currently in that situation. Use James 1:12-18 to help you during this time with the Lord.
God, you are so good. Thank you for being good even when I'm unable to see exactly what it is You're doing. I ask that you would begin to reveal yourself to me in the midst of this unfortunate circumstance (actually insert your circumstance here - there's power in speaking things forth). Lord, would you show me where You have been at work in this midst of this, and would You show me how to continue forward in this situation? Please show me how best to be obedient to You so that everyone involved would be loved, understood, and ultimately Your name would be glorified.
